Foundation HistoryIn 1974, articles of incorporation for the Foundation had been drafted and filed with the Texas Secretary of State.
Then, at Texas Press Association's 95th annual summer convention in Arlington, the board of directors unanimously approved the Texas Newspaper Foundation Inc.
TPA President Tom Steely, publisher of the Lamar County Echo, Paris, appointed a board of trustees for the Foundation and Lyndell Williams was named registered agent.
The original purpose of the Foundation is intact. Today the Foundation is thriving as it continues to address journalism training needs of Texas community newspapers.
